International Workshop Weekend
March 19–22, 2026
This extended weekend was full of dance, unforgettable moments, and community with the participants and the audience. The interdisciplinary workshop weekend featured dance on the dance floor, on synthetic ice and on real ice.
This platform was created for international encounters, exchange and networking in our IceLab studio and at Anona Icedome in Leipzig. Next to workshops of our international workshop leaders, jam sessions and the amazing show of Beautiful Confusion Iconic Program, our guest performance from Prague, Czech Republic, we hosted the very first Open Stage on real ice with international dancers.
ICONIC PROGRAM
About the Performance:
A journey towards the iconic, through the lens of competitive figure skating, in the company of inevitable failure. With just enough mastery to be legible and just enough mess to be real.
Iconic Program is inspired by Becka McFadden’s life-long obsession with figure skating and somewhat shorter competitive career. Built out of skating’s own structures — its archetypes, narratives, personalities and formats — this solo performance invites the audience to take part in Becka’s quest to embrace failure as emancipation, celebrate the transcendent powers of this lovely, horrifying sport and create a truly iconic program. On the way, viewers can expect to bend their knees, explore deep grooves, feel big emotions and reflect on the odd things that somehow end up at the centre of our lives.
Yes, there’s no ice. But don’t worry — we’re going to skate anyway. We couldn’t stop even if we wanted to.
This performance is SUPPORTED BY the Czech-German Future Fund and presented in a chamber version created especially for IceLab Leipzig. Funded by the Stadtbezirksbudget West district budget by the City of Leipzig.
